On a crisp December morning, we kicked off the festive season with a special 10k route that showcased Toronto’s holiday magic. Starting from our usual meeting spot at UC steps, we made our way to one of the city’s most enchanting winter destinations – the Distillery District.
The historic cobblestone streets, adorned with twinkling lights and festive decorations, provided a magical backdrop for our run. We wound our way through the waterfront, taking in the contrast of Lake Ontario’s winter views and the city’s festive atmosphere.
After soaking in the holiday charm and covering our 10 kilometers, we warmed up at Balzac’s Coffee Roasters on the Toronto Metropolitan University campus. There’s something extra special about sharing a hot drink with fellow runners after experiencing the city’s holiday transformation together.
This run struck the perfect balance between challenge and celebration – giving our regular runners a chance to explore a new route while getting into the holiday spirit. As always, we encouraged newer runners to build their endurance with our weekly 5k runs before joining these longer adventures.
Thanks to everyone who joined us in making the start of December memorable. Nothing beats combining the joy of running with the magic of the holiday season.
