UofT Run Club Settles the debate. Papa CEO vs Cora Pizza; who has the better pizza?

At 10:30 AM on Saturday January 28th 2023 the UofT Run Club set off on a 10k route through Yorkville and the Annex ending at Papa Ceo and Cora Pizza. (See below)

10k route through Yorkville and the Annex. The route passes through Philosopher’s Walk, Yorkville Park, Jesse Ketchum Park, Ramsden Park, Jean Sibelius Square, Vermont Square Park, Christie Pitts Park, and Bickford Park.

As a club we have been through Philosopher’s walk, Yorkville Park, Ramsden Park, Christie Pitts, ad Bickford Park multiple times. I was excited to go through Jesse Ketchum park, Jean Sibelius Square, and Vermont Square Park for the first time. These parks are rather small however they hold a lot of personality and remind us how little green areas such as these make the city so much more livable.

I was quite happy with how the run went. Even though the run started at 10:30 AM the streets were not so packed to make the run unbearable. At Jean Sibelius Square we had a little kid (maybe 8 or so) take a photo so everyone in the run could be included. Unfortunately I neglected to ask for his name thus we cannot provide him photo credits (See below)

At Christie Pitts Park we encountered some little punks who shouted various profanities encouraging us to run faster. They tried to catch up with us as we ran through the park however they ran out of stamina or did not want to exit the park and get lost. After leading the Run Club for 15 months I always think I have seen everything however I still encounter new stuff such as today; having a 14 year old kids call me a pussy for not running fast enough while sitting on a bench. Toronto never ceases to surprise!

At Bickford park we ran/walked through some very slipper ice and took a photo posing as pizza delivery workers.

We ended our run at Papa Ceo/Cora where we ordered some pizzas and walked over to the Athletic Centre to finally settle the debate; who serves the better pizza?

Pepperoni and Deluxe pizza from Papa Ceo

Some feedback I received from attendees:

-Papa Ceo is around $4.80 while Cora is $4.50

-Papa Ceo has better pizza however Cora has better deals on Uber Eats. Papa Ceo Pizza’s have quality melted cheese and are served in a way that feels like home (New York Style Pizza)

-Cora and Papa Ceo are identical in quality. Both are thin crust, are crunchy, and serve large slices for reasonable prices. I would say they both serve quality pizza, better than Pizza Pizza or Domino’s

-Papa Ceo pizza is pretty good. I would give it a 4/5

-Papa Ceo and Cora both serve quality pizza. Pizza is pizza unless its from pizza pizza. I would give them both a 5/5.

-Pretty good both are 4.5/5

-I love them both 5/5. Tastes like they use fresh ingredients, no weird after-taste.

So who has the better pizza?

It seems Papa Ceo has a slight edge over Cora however they are both respectable quality pizza joints worth visiting.

On a personal note I think Cora and Papa Ceo pizza are identical in quality however I really like the garlic pizza from Cora’s. Generally speaking I love it when garlic is sprinkled over my food thus I find the garlic pizza at Cora to be better than anything from Papa Ceo. I have been to both joints several times during my 6 years in Toronto and would recommend both for any UofT Students. I would give both joints a 4.5/5. My personal favorite pizza joint in Toronto is Fresca down on College.
